All of these components can be incorporated into cathodic protection as long as certain features are considered in the design, such as the heating bundle being made into a square array of tubes, and the electrodes are properly arranged so that all surfaces receive sufficient protection current to meet the protection criteria.
In enamelled water tanks with protective electrodes for low current output, these fittings: the heating surface (cathode assembly) must be electrically insulated from the water tank and from the earth. A typical bush is shown. Insulation is not required for particularly small cathode components (such as temperature probes) that acquire very little protective current.
